Saturday, October 6th we will meet at 9am. Veterans and Guardians will arrive at 9am to register and the program will begin at 10:30. Mission Barbeque will be catering lunch for us.
If the Cadets have friends in School JROTC that would like to come and sit with veterans and help that day they are welcome and we can give them service hours. We will have the Sea Cadets Present the Colors. Assist with getting Veterans in and seated prior to the event and help serve the veterans. We will also need help with taking trash out and clean up.
About the event:
Polk County veterans who are physically unable to travel are invited to participate in the third annual Virtual Flight to Honor, 10:30 a.m. Oct. 6 hosted by the Polk County Veterans Council and Cornerstone Hospice and Palliative Care at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 4450 Harden Blvd., Lakeland. Honorees will include World War II and Korean War veterans as well as any veteran with a condition that makes him or her unable to participate in the Yellow Ribbon Flight to Honor, a daylong tour of military monuments in Washington, D.C. During the event, the veterans will watch a professionally-produced video that shows the various military monuments in our nation’s capital. Additionally, the veterans will be honored with a Cornerstone SALUTES! and be treated to lunch. Veterans can apply to attend by calling Cornerstone Hospice Volunteer Specialist Pat Gruber at 863-291-5567 or by emailing email@example.com. A volunteer guardian will be provided for every veteran in attendance.
