About The Event
From Ronnie Payne:
RSVP is required so that we can provide this generous Church and Gold Star Family with an accurate head count for the meal they are so graciously providing us.
Dear Naval Sea Cadets,
Hello, my name is Ronnie Payne. My wife, Aileen and I want to invite you to our fourteenth annual Memorial Day weekend service at Calvary Baptist Church. Our son Marine Cpl. Ron Payne, Jr. gave the last full measure of devotion on the night of May 7th, 2004 in Afghanistan. Over the past thirteen years we have honored 60 servicemen and women from all over America. We’ve had their families at this service. It is truly a day to watch God’s healing take hold of their broken hearts and show them that their children were more than just a name or a number. They were the absolute best that America had to offer.
Our church family, community, and former military gather on this date every year to honor them. Last year, we honored the fallen from the Korean War. This year, on May 27th at 10:45 AM, we are going to honor the families of the fallen from the Iraq & Afghanistan War. We’ve entitled the program, “America Remembers.” We will be honoring the service and sacrifice of three Army veterans: Spc. Justin D. Coleman, K.I.A. 7-24-09; Spc. Cody C. Grater, K.I.A. 7-29-07; and Spc. Alexander J. Miller, K.I.A. 7-31-09. Marine Staff Sgt. Landon Beaty will perform the Final Roll Call. The color guard will be performed by the Mulberry High School J.R.O.T.C. Our keynote speaker will be Army Chaplain Major Phil Kramer. The Patriot Guard and Veterans United Motorcycle Association will be here along with some area high school J.R.O.T.Cs. Dignitaries from Central Florida will also be in attendance.
This service is open to the public, but if you are an Afghanistan/Iraq veteran, we want you here that morning so we can honor you too. Bring your family members. There will be a private meal for the families of the fallen. Please call Ronnie Payne at (863) 370-1968 or the church office at (863) 683-6781 for more information. Come join Pastor Shane Skelton, Aileen, and myself as we honor these brave fallen warriors of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars who gave their last breath for each and every one of us...people they didn’t even know.
God bless you,
Pastor Shane Skelton Ronnie & Aileen Payne
